How to use MARBLE

Using MARBLE

On this page, you’ll find tips for exploring the MARBLE platform and accessing Notre Dame’s distinctive digitized collections.

Searching

Use the search bar (always available in the main navigation) for broad keyword searches. You can search by artist, date, historical event, or other keywords. Results will include any items where your term appears.

Refine results with filters and facets on the left side of the results page. Selected filters appear under the main search bar; remove them anytime by clicking the “x” icon.

You can also refine searches by items with images and items without images.

Portfolio Tool

Notre Dame community members can curate and annotate their own collections using the Portfolio tool. Learn how to create, curate, and annotate a portfolio.

If you have difficulty logging in or accessing your account, please contact the Office of Information Technology.

Digitization Information

Materials are photographed or scanned at the highest quality possible. Some images have zoom or download restrictions due to copyright.

To suggest materials for digitization, please reach out to the appropriate partner:

Raclin Murphy Museum of Art: Registrar (Victoria Perdomo)

Hesburgh Libraries: Consult a subject librarian

Note: Approval of digitization requests depends on factors such as collection size, physical condition, and ongoing projects. If you are interested in initiating or advocating for digitization, please start the process early.
