This drawing is of a country landscape, a subject favored by Dupré. The diagonal composition features a Breton village road dotted with several small figures and a cart which leads the eye into the distance and provides a sense of scale. Above the road on the left are traditional cottages with thatched roofs and trees. Using a low horizon line and a variety of techniques to explore light and shade, Dupré creates an open and tranquil scene. The artist’s monogram "J.D" and an unidentified collector’s stamp are in the lower left. The monogram "G.B" appears in the upper center of the verso. written by Emma Lyandres, St. Andrews University, Scotland, 2022
