Standing Hollow Polychromed Female Figurine

This is an example of the style of figurine made iconic by Chupícuaro artists. The bold black-and-white step-fret pattern runs along the chest, back, and head of this female figure against the red slip. Based on similar figurines, it is probable that a similar pattern also ran along the white bands around the legs, but has since faded or worn off. The figurine is hollow and has an opening for the mouth, ear spools, and navel.
