Mail Art: Sandor Gogoljak, Odzaci, Yugoslavia to Vagrich Bakhchanyan, New York, New York

Date

circa 1981 September 30
Part of: i. Mail Art
Rare Books & Special Collections, Hesburgh Libraries

Green print based on Édouard Manet's painting The Luncheon on the Grass with the sext "surrealism & mail art". The face of one man has been altered to appear like that of Salvador Dali. A postage stamp has been placed in the hand of the other man, whose head is covered with a collage of another head (possibly that of Gogoljak). Artist's logo with return address, typographic design based on globus cruciger. Artist stamp on reverse combines the heads of Dali and another man (same head used in collage element on front, possibly Gogoljak) similar to mirrored bodies used in playing cards.
