Date

Part of: i. Mail Art
Rare Books & Special Collections, Hesburgh Libraries

Cover ornamented with rubber stamp in red ink: circular seal design with bugle player, "Carlo Pittore", "PITTORE EUFORICO", and sender's return address. Rubber stamp in black ink: "BOOKS", crossed out with black ink. 8 1/4"x10" sheet enclosed. Blue paper, photocopied sheet of artist stamp designs depicting Pittore with a large paint brush over his mouth. 1 folded cutout enclosed. Cutout in the shape of an arm with inscription to Bakhchanyan in black ink: "Here is my ARM NEWS" (ARM NEWS is the name of a periodical published by Bakhchnyan). Repeated print of bugle player in red ink on reverse. Large circular adhesive sticker stuck to the fingertips of cutout, bars of color corresponding to Italian flag, advertising an exhibition for (Guglielmo Achille) Cavellini at the "PALAZZO DUCALE" (Doge's Palace) in Venice. Speculative death date of 1914-2014 implies he lives for exactly 100 years (common mail art trope, see Folder: 598).
