In the late 1960s and early 1970s, he created a series of spirals, small tabletop sculptures made of stainless steel wire that he often gilded. In Two Lines with Spirals, dated about 1973, each of the two components was crafted from a single piece of industrial wire twisted into a graceful spiral that weighs down one end of the line. from Kephart, Passages of Light and Time: George Rickey's Life in Motion (Notre Dame, 2009)
