The Study of a Praying Man has also been called Study for a Shepherd in Adoration, and its attribution to Guido Reni was confirmed by historians of Bolognese art, Sir Denis Mahon and D. Stephen Pepper, who date it to the 1620s. from Coleman, Seminar in Italian Baroque Drawings (Notre Dame, 2006)
