In 1496 Colombe was living in Tours; it is possible that he had been involved in executing the great Entombment (in situ) in the southern transept of the Benedictine abbey church of St Pierre at Solesmes, Sarthe, which was completed in that year. All records of the sculptors and donors were lost in the Revolution. While the architecture and framing elements are Late Gothic in character, the figures show great movement and naturalism.
