Bosra, Bishop's Palace: Overall view

Date

Circa 1910

Location

Architecture Library, Hesburgh Libraries

This building, known today as the Bishop's Palace, formerly was called Trajan's Palace. The alternating niches shown along the facade are the remains of the outer enclosure of the Nabataean temple, possibly dedicated to Dushares. This wall was incorporated into the east wall of the Bishop's Palace in the sixth century.
