Date

Circa 1910

Location

Architecture Library, Hesburgh Libraries

The parish church of San Miguel is located in the Plaza Mayor, almost opposite the cathedral. Isabella I was proclaimed queen of Castile in the church of San Miguel de Segovia on December 13, 1474. The church is Romanesque with later Gothic additions. Of particular note are three late Romanesque relief sculptures of the Archangel Michael flanked by St. Peter and St. Paul on the south exterior wall. The altarpiece is Baroque, designed by José de Ferreras (1672).
