Campanile by Baccio d'Agnolo (1503) is visible on the left. Brunelleschi's last great church was begun in 1436 but not finished until 1482, long after his death. It is in many ways similar to S Lorenzo, but without the constraints imposed by working on an existing building. The proportions of Santo Spirito were also refined: the height of the nave arcade is the same as the clerestory above, instead of the 5:3 ratio in S Lorenzo, so that the aisle bays of Santo Spirito are half the height of the nave. Continued after Brunelleschi's death by Antonio Manetti; internal facade by Salvi d'Andrea; sacristy is by Giacomo da Sangallo; campanile by Baccio d'Agnolo (1503).
